Jambunists, What do you think happens to the blood pH during vigorous exercise?
1. When you exercise, the carbon dioxide content in your blood increases.
2. The carbon dioxide reacts with water to form carbonic acid.
3. The blood and cerebrospinal fluid pH therefore drops.
4. The central chemoreceptors in the medulla oblongata will detect this drop in pH.
5. The central chemoreceptors sent nerve impulses to the respiratory centre.
7. The diaphragm and intercostals muscles will contract and relax faster.
8. Breathing and ventilation rate increases.
9. Excess carbon dioxide is eliminated.
10. pH of blood and cerebrospinal fluid returns to normal.
